Icy and Sara walked hand in hand down the path leading to the shore. If there was any confusion about their feelings for each other, they were nonexistent now. They both smiled as the coast came within sight. Other pokémon walked by and smiled at them, sensing their love for each other. Many pokémon were already choosing their mates now. Butterfree were flying over top of them, headed for the ocean to lay their eggs. Icy wondered if he should let Buttercup leave, but didn’t want his good friend to go so soon.
They finally reached the beach. Fortunately for them, no trainers were in sight. They had it all to themselves. Icy set his bag down near them, then went back to Sara. Her eyes sparkled like the sun reflecting off the ocean. As Icy approached her, she kissed him softly on the head. All the sudden, Icy felt lightheaded and almost fell over. He laughed and asked Sara what she wanted to do for fun.
“We could have a little beach picnic Icy...” she said.
“That sounds like a great idea. But, where are we going to get the food?”
“Leave that to me.” Sara called out to some other pokémon nearby. She knew almost every pokémon that lived in the area between Fuchsia and the shore. She asked them if they could gather a small meal for her and Icy. Since they were all friends, they complied and went into the forest to find some apples and other nice fruits. Icy watched as they returned with more than enough to eat themselves. They invited all of Sara’s friends to share the food they had gathered.
From a distance, a very young trainer was headed down to the shore himself. He was only about 10 years old and had only one pokémon. He spotted the large group of pokémon gathered by the water. He moved closer as if to get ready to attempt capturing them, but then had a second thought. He just sat down and watched the pokémon eat and play games on the beach. “They look so peaceful,” he thought. He had never seen pokémon like this before and didn’t want to forget it. From his backpack, he took out a piece of paper and some colored pencils and began sketching the scene. He seemed to have high artistic talent. He put the paper into his pack and ran home to show his parents.
Meanwhile, Icy and Sara finished their meal and set out away from the group to be alone. Sara jumped on top of Icy knocking him down. The two of them played for hours into the night. Even then, they lit up the sky with electricity. Then Icy showed Sara some of his psychic powers. He focused his energies on the sparks of electricity in the air making them change color. Then, he formed them into little hearts. Sara smiled as she watched in awe.
“How are you doing that Icy?”
“As a human, I had psychic powers. I think I still do have them. They’re even stronger now, I believe.”
“That’s neat.” She watched the colors fade into darkness. Then they walked back to the home in the forest. Their friends had already left since it had gotten so late. Sara picked a nice, quiet, cozy clearing where she and Icy could sleep for the night. Icy couldn’t remember the last time he had slept outside. But, now that Sara was with him, the past no longer seemed to matter. They said goodnight to each other and fell asleep...
