Author(s): IcyPikachu and Insanellama
Porygon landed in Saffron City and Icy finally woke up. InsaneLlama was very glad his friend wasn’t hurt badly.
“Since we are in my hometown, I should really visit my parents.” At this, Icy’s friend shot him a disturbed glance. “What? Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Icy, umm... you’re a Pikachu. Your parents aren’t going to recognize you,” Insane said hesitantly.
“Oh yeah. Well, you’re just going to have to back me up.”
“Ok Icy. Let’s go then.”
They set off for Icy’s house. Icy had not seen his parents for almost half a year since he left to become a pokémon trainer. As they got near to Icy’s house, InsaneLlama went up and knocked on the front door. A fairly young woman answered.
“Hello. Who are you?” she asked.
“The name’s InsaneLlama. I’m a friend of your son, Icy.”
“Where is he?” She looked around but couldn’t find him anywhere.
“I’m right here mom,” Icy said into his translator.
“That’s quite a mean trick to pull on his mother. Now, where is he for real?” Insane related to her about what happened to Icy during Bill’s experiment. She nearly fainted when she took another glance at the Pikachu smiling back at her.
Icy’s father heard her talking and came to the door to see who it was. Insane told him the story also. Finally, they accepted Icy’s new form. It was already late into the day so they sat down to an early dinner.
At dinner, Icy told his parents about all the adventures he had gone on since he left home. They were very proud of him, but also upset that he never called them. He showed them all the pokémon he had captured. Then, he formally introduced them to Insane.
Just then the phone rang.
“Pika? Hello?” Icy answered.
“Icy!!! How are ya?” Random’s familiar voice was recognized by Icy instantly.
“Not too hot... How did you get this number?” Icy groaned and smiled.
“The book.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“Yeah.”
“Mmhmm...”
“So how is Pokémon Tech???”
“I destroyed a Pokémon-sacrificing cult. You?”
“Met Giovanni - almost killed me.”
“Cool.”
“Yeah.”
“Ivan evolved. He is now Vinnie - Vinnie the Venusaur.”
“Okay.”
“Uh oh!!! Looks like I gotta go... Keg party!!! Cya round little yellow buddy!” Random bid farewell to his younger teammate.
“Cya round Random!!! Call again!!!”
“I will. Tell everyone I said hey”
“Ok. Bye” And with that, Icy hung up.
They continued sharing their stories until late into the night. Icy’s parents offered his friend a guest room to spend the night. They fell asleep almost instantly since they were so worn out from battling Team Rocket.
The next day,
They woke up around 7:00 in the morning. After eating a big breakfast, Icy suggested they visit the local gym. Insane a little worried about this. “Isn’t the gym leader here, Sabrina? I’ve heard some bad things about her.”
“She won’t be mean to us. I know her. I was her student once remember.” Icy was very confident in meeting her again. As they got near to the gym, they let Icy lead them in. He opened the doors and walked in. A psychic walked up to the two. He noticed the Pikachu was leading him.
“Ha. You expect to challenge the great Sabrina, yet you allow your pokémon to lead you. Ha ha huh?!?” All of the sudden, he found himself floating in mid-air. “What the.”
“Don’t ever insult me or my friend again or next time I’ll show you what I can really do,” said Icy as he put the man down.
“Forgive me. I shall escort you to the main gym.” They followed him down a long hallway. It was decorated with many ornate drawings. “Here we are. Sabrina will be with you soon.” The man left them alone in the empty gym.
Then, out of nowhere, they could hear a voice. “So, who is my next victim?”
“I don’t know about victims, but I’m here to finally challenge you for a badge Sabrina!”
“That attitude sounds familiar. Ah yes, Icy. What happened to you? Never mind. How tragic.”
“How did she know?” Insane asked Icy.
“She’s psychic.” Icy turned to Sabrina. “Now, how about a match. Two-on-two good for you.”
“Usually it is the gym leader who chooses that, but since you insist. Go Kadabra!”
“KADABRA!!!”
“I choose, Porygon!”
“PORYGON-GON-PORY!”
“Porygon, conversion now!” Porygon converted to a psychic type.
“Kadabra, confusion.” Kadabra focused its mind to use confusion. Icy had to think fast.
“Porygon, reflect the light into Kadabra’s eyes to break its concentration.” Porygon responded and Kadabra was temporarily blinded. “Now Porygon, hit Kadabra with Psybeam!” Porygon hit Kadabra perfectly, but it was hardly damaged. “Porygon, get ready to use psybeam again.”
Sabrina wasn’t at all worried. “Kadabra, psywave.” Kadabra’s attack paralyzed Porygon. Icy reached into his bag and took out a Paralyze healer. Porygon was ready for action again.
“Porygon, use your double team and concentrate psybeams on Kadabra!” Porygon became three separate Porygons. All of them attacked at once. Kadabra could concentrate with three adversaries.
“Good work Icy.” Kadabra was getting very confused by all the psybeams hitting it that it fainted. “This isn’t at all over yet. Go Alakazam!” The stronger psychic pokémon appeared. Icy was speechless.
“Porygons, tackle it!” They were only inches from Alakazam when they all crashed into each other for some reason. “WHAT???” Sabrina laughed.
“I told you this wouldn’t be easy.” Insane watched from the sidelines.
“How am I going to beat her? Icy seems to be just getting lucky here and there.”
“Now, finish it off Alakazam. Psybeam.”
Icy froze. << Porygon, move quick. >> It was too late. Porygon was slammed against the wall by Alakazam’s psybeam. Icy recalled it and got ready to release his second pokémon. “I choose, Butterfree!” Icy remembered that his Butterfree was very talented in using psychic attacks, and its small size would give it an advantage. “Butterfree, sleep powder!”
“Blast it out of the sky. Psybeam, multiple spread!” Alakazam fired multiple psybeams at Butterfree, but it was just to fast. Butterfree released its sleeping powder over Alakazam. “Teleport now!” Too late. Alakazam was fast asleep.
“Psybeam now Butterfree!” Butterfree began glowing. It was obviously a strong Butterfree. The glow became so bright that everyone was blinded. When the flash ended, Butterfree was still hovering joyfully while Alakazam tried to get up unsuccessfully. Sabrina had lost the battle.
“Here is the Marsh Badge Icy. You’ve grown to be a very strong trainer. May you continue to be a shining representative of our gym here.” Icy took the Marsh Badge.
“Now I’ve got 6! Only two more to go.”
“Now, did your friend want to earn a badge too?”
Insanellama walked up to the floor, leading Rapidash behind him, and moved into position. “2on2” said Sabrina.
Insanellama was all business, he tugged his hat down a little lower, and said “Giddeyap Rapidash.” Rapidash shucked its saddlebags and harness and galloped onto the floor.
“KADABRA GO!”
“RAPIDASH ATTACK!” Rapidash started glowing. Kadabra had just woken up and was a bit disturbed by the even brighter than normal Rapidash. Rapidash unleashed a tornado of fire upon the stunned Kadabra. “CONGRATULATIONS RAPIDASH U LEARNED FIRESPIN!!!!” said Insanellama actually showing a smile now. It soon reverted to an indifferent straight line as Kadabra fainted.
“I’m not finished,” said Sabrina.
“Yet,” said Insanellama with an edge to his voice.
“ALAKAZAM GO!” said Sabrina.
“RAPIDASH DIAMOND STOMP!!!!”
“ALAKAZAM PSYBEAM RAPID FIRE NOW!!”
Rapidash was charging while doing evasive maneuvers, dodging the psybeams. Rapidash leaped high into the air, and was hit by psybeams, but never the less came crashing down with 4 hooves on Alakazam, both fainted. “Since u still have one left, here’s yer badge.” Insanellama tucked it into his jacket, 6 of 8. Blaine was next on the list.
