Episode 3:
Icy and Mike Arrive in Vermilion City

Last time, Icy met a young pokémon trainer named Mike. The two had a small battle in which Icy won but his Pidgey was badly injured. The two became friends and together they arrive in Vermilion City. It has been a while since Mewtwo had wreaked havoc on the beautiful harbor city. All of Vermilion has been rebuilt so Icy has no idea of what had happened.

“This is a nice place you’ve got here,” says Icy.

“Yeah. But last week, a giant white pokémon destroyed a lot of the city. They had to bring in the army! I didn’t get to see it because my parents told me to hide in our house.”

“Oh my. That’s terrible! What did they do with the evil pokémon?”

“I heard they took it to a special lab on Cinnabar Island.” He and Icy continue walking down the road leading to the pokécenter. “Just ahead is a pokécenter. We can heal our pokémon there.”

They finally reach the pokécenter and each give their pokémon to Nurse Joy to be healed.

“How long have you been training Icy?”

“For about two years, but I left home only a few days ago.”

“I just started. It’s not an easy task. After our pokémon are healed, let’s go to my house. I want you to meet my family.” Just then, Nurse Joy came out and called Icy and Mike to the front desk.

“Your pokémon are all healed. Please come back any time.” She smiles then helps another trainer.

“Let’s go Icy. I’ll show you the way to my house.” Icy and Mike head for his house. After walking for about five minutes, they are standing outside a white, medium sized home with a lovely garden in front.

“Nice house,” says Icy. He is very impressed.

“We were lucky that the giant pokémon was captured so soon, otherwise it may have destroyed it. Well, let’s go in. I want to introduce you.” They go inside where Mike’s mom is busy preparing dinner.

“Well, your father and I have been wondering when you’d be coming home. Did you find any new pokémon?” asks Mike’s mother. She suddenly sees Icy and asks Mike, “Is this a new friend of yours?”

“Uh huh. His name is Icy and he is a pokémon trainer too! He can also use psychic powers to control his pokémon!”

“Wow! You’re quite a guy aren’t you,” she replies smiling at Icy. “Dinner will be ready in a few minutes, would you like to join us?”

“That would be wonderful. Thank you very much,” Icy answers. They all sat down to a huge seafood meal. Seafood is a specialty in Vermilion City because it’s on the water. After dinner, Icy thanks Mike and his mom for their hospitality but tells them he must get going. They say their good-byes and Icy returns to the pokécenter to stay the night.

“Tomorrow, we’ll head for Digletts’ Cave.” He yawns and quickly falls asleep. Icy dreams of all the new people he will see on his journey, not to mention all the interesting pokémon he’ll catch.
