While the group was eating that day in the pokécenter, Icy decided he’d go out on his own for a while and meet back with the group after the auction. They exchanged a tearful goodbye wishing Icy the best of luck. Icy then took his backpack and a sleeping bag and headed out to a forest outside Celadon City.
Random watched Icy leave and spoke up, “Guys. I have been thinking. I am don’t want to be a nobody. I have decided to put myself through Pokémon Tech. I am going to leave you guys for a while. You are welcome to stay at my estate for as long as you wish. Thank you, you’re my best friends.”
“Good luck Random.” Everyone wished him well. Random walked to the door, Ivan on his heels. Random set his map down and defined the best path to Pokémon Tech. He set off.
It was a small forest, but Icy didn’t care about that. He just wanted a place no one would bother him at. It was getting very late and the sun had already set. Icy was suddenly lonely. As he reached for Porygon’s pokéball, he put it back thinking about Abra. He found Abra’s pokéball and called him out. Abra appeared in front of him, ready for battle. Icy calmed him down and said he just wanted to talk a while.
“Hey, Abra. It’s been a while.” Abra nodded. Ever since Icy had got Porygon, he couldn’t put it down. Abra had become just another one of his many pokémon. But now Icy realized how lonely Abra was. “I’m sorry for not paying much attention to you Abra. I wonder how all our friends are doing? Let’s find out.” Icy had each of his other pokémon materialize. Most of them just sat there staring at Icy and Abra while others, like the ten Caterpie, played little games. Icy laughed as the Caterpies crawled over each other. He remembered the times when he played games with the other kids on his block, specifically a little girl who lived next door. But that was before the accident that changed his life forever. Not that it was any bad to be a Pikachu, there were just a few things that only humans could do. Icy and Abra both joined in the games their friends were playing.
They played late into the night and were finally so wiped out, they just fell asleep right there. Icy had been playing games with the Caterpie, letting them crawl all over him, and now they were still all over him, asleep. Since they were deep in the forest where no one would see them, Icy decided to just fall asleep for the night, since he didn’t have the energy to return them all to pokéballs anyway. Sleep overtook him quickly and slowly he began to dream about his old life. Abra and Porygon fell asleep on each other as well, and the rest of Icy’s pokémon remained scattered around them. It was almost mid-night.
Meanwhile, in a secret part of Celadon City, Giovanni and some of his TR henchmen were setting up headquarters. “Is everything ready for the big party?”
“Yes sir. Everything will ready right on time. We’ve got posters throughout the city and in pokécenters everywhere.”
“Very good. Now all we have to do is wait for those trainers to get here. And this time, there had better not be any screw ups.” The two henchmen had a nervous look. “Oh. And one more thing. I’ve heard rumors that Clan Caterpie is in town. See that they are eliminated at the party. I want Icy, however, brought to me, alive. He would make a perfect agent. Bwahahahaha!!” His laugh was very deep. The other two agents laughed with him.
