It was around 9:00 PM and Icy wanted to get some shuteye early. It had been an eventful day. He sat down and fell asleep.
At that same moment on a distant island, scientists were studying a rather large pokémon. “He’s way too powerful, stop the experiment. It’s not going to hold any longer, we can’t risk it again!” The containment field generators were overloading and sparks began flying from them. From a hanging cage, a small cat-like pokémon watched with fear.
“Turn it off before it’s too late.” He didn’t get to finish his sentence before the generator exploded, killing two scientists near it. The containment fields were offline and the giant pokémon roared. “Ohhhhhhh, crap.” the other scientist moaned as he saw a flickering image of the giant pokémon. He got on the radio. “It’s escaped! Repeat! Mewtwo has esc.” Something kept him from finishing the distress call. Mewtwo glowed and the scientist was thrown across the room, knocked out. Mewtwo caught sight of the caged pokémon, Mew. It glowed again, this time a suit of armor flew at him, covering its entire body. It shined each time the lights attempted to re-light. From the suit, Mewtwo produced a large laser blaster. Not to Mewtwo’s knowing, a scientist, hurt from the initial blast, slowly moved over to one the computers still intact.
“It’s your fault that I was created for their pleasure in the first place. I will begin my revenge with destroying you!” Mewtwo growls in Mew’s direction. Mew shivered with fear. Mewtwo aimed the laser at Mew and prepared to fire. Mew began to weep. The scientist realized what was about to happen and quickly typed in commands on the computer to teleport Mew to a safe location. Mewtwo fired the laser, but Mew was teleported to a top-secret pokécenter installation. The blast explosion from the laser was enough to spark a fire near the computer the scientist was working at. It blew out, fatally injuring him. Mewtwo grunted with displeasure, flipped a switch on his armor suit, and flew straight through the roof. On his ascent, he dropped three blast-balls into the lab. After only ten seconds, that entire complex exploded sending debris miles into the ocean. Satisfied with the destruction he had caused, Mewtwo flew off into the distance.
At that moment, Icy sensed a disturbance in the ether. Something big had happened. Somehow, he knew. Images began to form in his mind. He saw the destroyed lab. Then, to his fear, he saw Mewtwo. “Oh my Goddish!” he screamed. It was only subconsciously. No one else heard him. Mewtwo could sense Icy’s awareness now. It spoke with him.
“You know who I am, just as I do you.” Mewtwo said.
“What do you mean?” Icy replied.
“Don’t play games with me. You aren’t a pokémon, rather a human. A psychic human. One with a gift. Much like mine.”
“I don’t understand. What have you done? I can see the destruction.”
“They were the evil ones. They thought they could just create a being and experiment on it for their own benefit. They underestimated what they were getting in to.”
“But why have you done this. What do you what from us? From me?”
“As I said. You have a gift. You are a talented psychic human. I can’t allow someone like you to misinterpret my goal. I will destroy the SS Anne and everyone on it. They must not be allowed to live.”
“They haven’t done you any harm. Why do you want to hurt us and pokémon?”
“They aren’t innocent. They capture pokémon, train them to battle for them. And for what? So they can go around sporting their triumphs! And the fact that these pokémon willingly give themselves up to them.”
“But most trainers are kind to their pokémon. You can’t destroy us all. Think about what you are doing.”
“There is no turning back. Mankind was selfish enough to create me. Now, they must pay for meddling with forces even they cannot control.”
“No! Wait! You can’t do this! Listen to me…”
“I’ve heard enough of you already. I’m going to end this now!”
Icy could see Mewtwo arm his laser cannon. The weapon was powerful enough to level a large building with one shot. He hovered over the ship, laser trained on its target. Icy saw the beam fire. It was the last of the images. But it was replaced with a voice.
#So. I am not alone.#
“Who are you? Where are you?”
#Where I am, does not matter. I will be above the bridge at 10 tomorrow morning. As for who I am…I am an alteration. Like you, but more like Mewtwo.#
“…”
#Mew could stop Mewtwo. However, this ship’s Mew seems to have gotten a bit mad, and might not spare the passengers. Although I do not doubt that everyone on this ship will pitch in to help stop them, the actual battle may be up to us, at least at first. Don’t answer me now; just sleep on it.#
And then the presence was gone.
It was still visible and audible in his mind when he woke up that morning. Insanellama was trying to wake him. “Icy! Hello! Wake up! Time for breakfast.” Icy finally awoke and stretched his little paws out as far as they could go. He related the dream he had last night to Insane, but neither could think of who the other voice was. He would have to wait until 10AM to find out. But if the visions of Mewtwo were true, the SS Anne was running out of time.
