Last time…
“Enough! Ready to fight, come in sight! Icy calls, CYBER!!! Porygon Knight, transformation!”
Icy and his friends had come to Blue Island where Trinity fought for her next gym badge. But while they were enjoying the city sights, Gamma caused an avalanche and The Dark Lord trapped Icy and his friends in the pokécenter.
“I can’t allow you to blindly kill more people. I’ll end this right here,” Icy said, now as the Porygon Knight.
“Hmmhmmhmm. Icy… You think you can stop this. How? Would you kill me?”
Icy paused.
“I won’t give you the chance!!!!!” The Dark Lord drew his sword and charged.
“Huh!?!” Icy’s attention snapped in too late. “AAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!” He screamed out in horror as the blade drove straight through him.
“ICY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sara cried watching the sword drive through her friend. “NOOOOO!!!!!”
And this is where our story continues…
«« INTRO »»
As the clouds part, the camera flies over a vast green landscape, lined with numerous flowers and small trees and pokémon running around. Finally, the camera zooms past Icy, Sara, and Trinity as it soars into the sky.
Scenes change as we see each of the Spectral League gym leaders in dramatic poses with their pokémon and their respective island in the background. As we reach the final leader, the world begins to change into lines and becomes the Virtual Plane.
A slightly more foreboding music plays as shadows of a small winged pokémon, a duck-shaped red-bluish pokémon, a young boy, and an older man with a staff pass by. A tear drops from the boy’s face as he drops a small locket, causing the scene to switch again.
The ripples of the tear drops fade into a scene of Icy and his friends having a picnic and a few shots of battles with other trainers and a short spar with Gamma and Eamudo. Finally, the camera zooms out to show a large portion of the world, but with an ominous figure looming behind it.
«« END INTRO »»
“ICY!!!” Sara screamed rushing towards him. Cyber and Icy split apart; Icy falling into Sara’s arms, and Cyber hitting the cold floor. Sara’s hand was red when she looked at it after sitting Icy up.
“I warned you. You fool… I warned you not to underestimate me, and look where it’s gotten you! I’m taking Frosterpie now; our quarrel is over.” The Dark Lord raised his hand and Frosterpie’s crystal pokéball floated into it. “This wasn’t what I wanted… but… you left me no choice… I… I’m sorry…” He looked over at Trinity who was standing frozen in shock. “Trinity… I…”
Trinity, though stunned, managed to speak. “Be quiet.”
The Dark Lord gasped.
“Get away from us, forever. I… never thought you’d be this cruel.”
“Trinity… I’m sorry… I’m doing this for…”
“Stop it! Enough. Leave before I do something I will regret too!!!”
The Dark Lord turned away. As he walked, three distinct figures appeared where once was one. The figure resembling a small boy turned around, looking back at the people gathered. “I’m sorry… but…” The caped man landed in front of him.
“This is becoming dangerous. It’s time, we should go.”
The boy nodded and the four vanished. Trinity looked over to where they were standing a moment ago. “How could you? How could you act like this, after all we’ve suffered… taking another’s life?”
Sara was still in tears, holding Icy’s cold hand, wishing with all her heart for him to open his eyes and speak to her again. This time was different from the others. Of all the times they’d been in tight situations, even if it was Icy who got hurt, he’d always come back, and with a smile on his face no less. But this time, it was different.
{ Flashback }
“Would you kill me?” the Dark Lord asked. Icy froze upon hearing the words. “I won’t give you the chance!!” the Dark Lord yelled, driving his sword into Icy.
{ End Flashback }
This time… could it really be the end? Sara shook her head, driving away her fears. “C’mon Icy, please be alive. You can’t be gone, not like this. You would never even wish this upon him, so, this can’t be true.”
Trinity rested her arm on Sara’s shoulder. “Sara, the doctors are here. C’mon, if anyone can save Icy now, it’s them. Help us ok?” Trinity reached out her hand to Sara’s.
Sara stared back up at Trinity, her view of Trinity’s face blurred by her own tears. “Thank you,” she managed to voice and took Trinity’s hand. The doctors rushed Icy over to the nearby hospital which was not damaged by the avalanche.
“He’ll be alright. I can tell he’s been through much worse than this.”
“It’s ok; you don’t need to keep cheering me up. I just need a moment alone ok.”
“Yeah, sure thing Sara,” Trinity said.
Meanwhile,
“That was too close, even for you my grace.”
“Does she… hate me?”
“What? I didn’t hear you.”
“Nevermind, it was nothing.” The boy walked over to the little winged pokémon. “Chronos, I think it’s over now. We got Frosterpie.”
Chronos looked up, but then back at the ground again. “It’s… not over… He won’t bring them back… not yet…”
“But?!?”
“Hmmhmmhmm… That’s correct young one.”
“Why? We had a deal! You told me Frosterpie could bring my parents back!!! So do it, bring them back already.”
“I did say that, and I do mean to keep true to my word, but, there is still something I want you to do for me.”
The boy balled his fist. “Fine… Name it…”
“That’s more like it. You have done well to revive the Mew’s Temporal Weapon. I want you to use it once again on Purple Island.”
“Why there?”
“Purple Island is primarily populated with psychic humans. They must be eliminated from time. They are a threat to me.”
“You must promise to bring my parents back if I do.”
“Of course.”
The boy turned to the taller figure. “Go, prepare to fire the weapon.”
“Leaving your dirty work to me yet again?”
“Silence. You still work for me understood. Prepare the weapon to fire on the island. Wipe it out.”
“You realize, you’d kill thousands of innocent lives, just to save two.”
“SHUT UP!!! I don’t care. They never cared about me, so why should I bother caring about them. I hate them all.” The boy’s eyes glowed red. Chronos backed away from him fearfully. “I hate them… all of them!”
“As you wish,” the man said vanishing.
“Hmm hmm hmm… He will betray you… You see it… don’t you…?” The dark, evil voice spoke softly into the boy’s ear. “He’ll betray you, and you’ll never see them again… What will you do?”
“AAGGHHHH!!!!! Go away!” Sweat rolled down his face. In front of him, Chronos sat on the virtual ground, his body shaking with fear. “You? Would you also betray me some day? The day I don’t have this, would you betray me then?” The boy held out the darkball.
“I’m sorry…” Chronos cried. “I cannot stop my own fate… I’m sorry… But… I wouldn’t betray on my own will. I want to be your friend forever, no matter what it takes.”
The boy smiled and gently picked up Chronos. “Then you will be my friend, always and forever.” He hugged the pokémon tenderly. “C’mon… We must stop Janus. I really do think he is going to betray us this time. Will you fight him with me?”
Chronos nodded. “I will protect you.”
The emergency room light finally went dim after almost three hours. Sara stood up, hoping to hear good news. A doctor emerged from the room and came to speak with her.
“Well… I have good news for you. Your friend Icy will make it, however… he’s very weak. I don’t know how he managed to survive that, but you really shouldn’t be getting mixed up in these sorts of fights. You kids really do have too much free time on your hands now-a-day.”
Sara simply smiled and thanked the doctor. “I understand. Please, may I see him now?”
“Yes. Please, this way. Follow me.” Sara walked with the doctor to Icy’s room.
“Are you ok?” Sara asked Icy gently.
Icy turned his head to face her. “Yeah. Doctors say I gotta be a little more careful, hehe, that’s all.” Icy groaned and clutched his stomach area. “Ouuww… Still a little sore though. Tell Trinity she should go on without us ok.”
“Don’t bet on that Icy,” Trinity said. “I have my reasons but, I’ll be happy if you not ask for them ok.”
“Thanks,” Icy said smiling. “You both are really kind.” Sara smiled and giggled, and even Trinity smiled a little.
“You should be able to travel in a few hours, but seriously, try to stay out of trouble. You don’t live through something like that twice. You were lucky this time, next time could be it.”
“I understand doctor. Thank you for working so hard to save me. I’m very grateful.” Icy got up with Sara’s help.
“You sure you want to keep going already? Really, you can rest Icy, I’m in no rush,” Trinity said.
“Heh, don’t take this badly, but when did you start caring so much about me?”
“I told you, it’s not about you… It’s… It’s… I’m sorry, I just can’t tell you, not until I’m sure.”
“It’s ok. We all have things we keep to ourselves. Given the enemy, it may be best I don’t know your reason.”
“Don’t kill him,” Trinity said.
Icy stopped and looked over to her. Still weak, he was at a loss for words now.
“You’re angry with him, but, he’s sorry. Please, there’s still good left in his darkened heart. If you can, save him from his nightmare.”
“Trinity…”
“I can’t hold this back any longer… The Dark Lord… he’s…”
“He’s about to use the Mew Weapon!”
“Huh!?! But… why…?”
“Where is it Icy?” Sara asked.
“Purple Island. We’ve gotta stop him.” Icy reached for Cyber’s pokéball. “Cyber, I choose you. Poryjet, transformation program!” Cyber went into his super cool, super expensive 3D-CG animation sequence and finally formed the Poryjet. “Let’s go, we don’t have much time.”
Meanwhile,
“All systems are ready sir. Target is locked.”
The tall man walked down the long deck passageway towards the main bridge. “If Mews were only a fourth my size, why did they build a ship meant for someone almost twice mine…” He cleared his mind. Obviously, more serious matters were in need of attention, especially the most critical one of all.
“Captain on deck!” said the commander. The officers on the bridge saluted the Captain.
“At ease. I’m only here to coordinate this.”
“Right. Everything’s in order sir.”
“Understood. Please standby for my orders.”
Just then, a red light started blinking on the monitor. “Sir, radar picking up a high-speed object traveling into the blast zone.”
“On screen…” The man looked closely at the monitor. “Damn… Icy’s still alive I guess…” He looked at the targeting screen. “Perhaps, there is a way to stop this afterall.” He began punching new coordinates into the targeting computer.
“That’s far enough Janus!” said a voice from the back of the bridge.
“My grace, this is not a safe place for you.”
“Change it back.” Chronos floated behind the young boy.
“Icy and his two friends will be caught in the blast if you fire on the island. You know who will be there don’t you.”
“He was right. You are a no good backstabber.”
“What? You are accusing me of being a traitor? Listen to yourself; you are being blinded from the truth. You are being used.”
“Enough!!! Chronos!!!!!” Chronos and the boy merged with each other and The Dark Lord reappeared. “Enough. Temporal magic…” A blue wave of energy began forming. “Transposition shift!”
“You’ll regret this!!!” Janus said. He found himself on Purple Island. “Damn… I must stop this somehow.”
The Dark Lord reset the coordinates and charged the weapon. “Die with the others Janus. You’ve crossed me for the last time.”
Icy and his friends landed on the island. “We’ve got to warn everyone.”
“You’re too late Icy…” Janus said coldly.
“Janus? What, what are you doing here?” Icy asked. He knew in his heart, the answer would not be favorable.
“Icy… I’m truly sorry for all this. But… in a few minutes, nothing here will exist. We set the weapon to erase this island.”
“We? We as in you and The Dark Lord?”
“Yes. I have been working against you all this time Icy. Yet, even now, I cannot bring myself to destroying you.”
“You twisted old man. How could you! How dare you!” Icy’s anger raged.
“I know you hate me. But, I will help you this time. One final deed to help myself. It’s selfish I know, but, I would rather die here than continue living his dream. I can delay the temporal flux, but you must gather every psychic in this island and together fight back to deflect the beam.”
“Janus!!!”
“I’m sorry Icy… My life isn’t in your hands; please don’t feel it should be.”
“Where’s Frosterpie Janus!!! Where have you taken him?”
“He’s on the ship.”
“Take me there Janus! I’m getting him back.”
“You want to die that much?”
“Take me to where Frosterpie is now!” Trinity and Sara meanwhile warned the islanders of the coming danger.
“Very well. But now, these people’s lives are on your hands. Temporal magic, transposition shift!” Suddenly, Icy and Janus were aboard the Mew ship. “Follow me, we haven’t much time.”
“Your grace, intruders on deck 4. It’s Janus and Icy.”
“Impossible. I killed him!?! And Janus too?” The Dark Lord drew his cape and headed for the main lift. “Continue the countdown. I will deal with those two.”
“Here, in this room.” Suddenly the wall in front of Janus exploded. “Ughh.”
“Damn you Janus. You worthless traitor.” The Dark Lord drew his sword. “I will end your existence here.”
“Icy! Forget me, get Frosterpie. If he uses Frosterpie’s power, you’ll never stop that beam.” Janus focused his attention back to the Dark Lord’s sword and blocked with his own.
“Janus!!!” Icy gathered himself and went over to the glass sphere Frosterpie was trapped inside. “Ughh!!! Ugghh!!!” he cried, banging on the glass, but it was not use.
“How dare you interfere like this. After all I had done for you!” The Dark Lord took another swing at Janus, but it was blocked.
“I am still fighting for you, just, not this self of you. I’m fighting for Willis, the boy you’ve buried deep inside your heart. You’ve blinded your own heart.”
“Enough. I’ve heard too many of your lies!!!” He took a few more swings at Janus but none landed.
‘Why…? Why is he so strong? Could it be?’ Janus defended himself from The Dark Lord’s attacks but was losing ground fast.
“Haahahaha, you pathetic creature. You may have seen through my plans, but a lot of good it will do you,” said a dark, mysterious voice. Janus’ eyes widened as he refocused his thoughts a moment too late. “AAAhhhhaaahahaha haaa haaaaa!!!”
“AAGGHHHH!!!” Janus yelled out in pain. He fell to his knees, then collapsed on the floor.
“You’re next Icy…”
Icy was still trying to free Frosterpie when Cyber formed a shield and sword for him to defend against The Dark Lord’s attack. “Agh!” Icy looked to see Janus’ still body, then at the crimson blood dripping from The Dark Lord’s sword. “How could you? He was your ally, your friend!”
“I have no friends or allies in this world Icy. I am alone, all alone. For this world, there is only hate!”
“You’re wrong!”
The Dark Lord gasped but regathered himself and took another strike.
“EEEiii,” Icy whelped blocking the sword. ‘He’s so strong,’ he thought. “You are wrong. What about…” Icy paused. He remembered something strange about The Dark Lord. It was similar to how he and Cyber were able to merge together that made him realize there was something in The Dark Lord as well.
“You mean Chronos? How can I call him my friend? He cannot act on his own, he has no freedom anymore.”
“Why? He is your friend isn’t he? Why do you hold him back?”
“It’s not me…” The Dark Lord calmed down for a moment. “It’s… something else… something… ughhh aaghh AGGGHHHH!!!” Suddenly, as if for no reason at all, he gripped his head in pain. “Noooo!!!!! I can’t take it anymore. You’re in my way again Icy.”
Icy felt himself being backed up towards the wall as he struggled to defend himself from The Dark Lord’s sword. “What do you mean?”
“You were always in the way. It made this so much more difficult. But after today, it’ll all be over at last. So go away!!!” The Dark Lord lunged forward with his blade and Icy teleported behind him.
“Ughh… crap… that wasn’t a smart move…” Icy fell to his knees panting. He still had not fully recovered and using his energy to teleport took almost all he had left.
“That little trick will not save you Icy.” The Dark Lord slowly walked up to Icy and raised his sword. “This is where it ends…”
“What the?!?” While the Dark Lord spoke, the voice he heard was changing into a dark, deep, evil voice.
“… this is where I finally rid myself of you. Good-bye Icy.” The Dark Lord drove his sword down towards Icy.
=====
“This is where I finally rid myself of you. Good-bye Icy,” the Dark Lord said as his sword flew down upon Icy. “Huh? What is this?” He turned his head to find Janus’ hand glowing.
“Temporal magic… Time Stop!!!” Janus coughed violently. He was using his own lifeforce to cast his spells now. “Ughhh…,” he moaned getting to his feet. “Icy… I have been a fool. There is no remorse for me, but, before I go, I want to do one thing which is not selfish.”
“Janus!!!” Icy screamed. Janus’ body began to glow. “JANUS!!!”
Meanwhile,
The islanders with psychic abilities had gathered together after Sara and Trinity went and warned them. Everyone was ready, but Sara was still concerned for Icy. Their eyes were transfixed on the sky which could at any moment be ripped apart by the temporal weapon.
“Willis… Please… I know that you still have a good heart deep inside. Look within yourself and you will find it. Whatever power has possessed you cannot control who you are and what your destiny is unless you let it. Fight it Willis! Fulfill your true destiny and live.” Janus began chanting his final spell as Icy quickly slid away from The Dark Lord’s sword.
“Your grace, the weapon is ready to fire!”
“Willis!!!” Janus uttered before his body had completely transformed into energy.
“FIRE!!!!!!”
Icy’s heart beat. Then again. And again. Each time feeling like an eternity had slipped by. Each beat feeling like it lasted forever. In his mind, he heard Janus speak to him.
“Thank you… for giving me purpose…” Icy gasped and his eyes shot over to where Frosterpie was trapped.
“AGGHHH!!!” he screamed shielding his face as the glass exploded and shattered into crystals. Frosterpie floated away from the glass as the beam passed through it. “Frosterpie.”
The Dark Lord watched, still unable to move due to Janus’ magic. “Noooooo!!! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you Icy! Why must you be so cruel to me? You selfish little monster.” The Dark Lord began glowing and vanished.
“Willis… Chronos…” Frosterpie finally landed in Icy’s arms and Icy held him close. “Are you ok?”
Frosterpie gave a small nod. They both began to glow and vanished as the ship started to shake violently.
“ALERT! ALERT! Hull breach immanent. ALERT! ALERT! Hull breach immanent,” said the computer in a less than distressed voice. “TOTAL FAILURE!”
Icy and Frosterpie reappeared on Purple Island next to Sara. “ICY!!!” Sara hugged Icy immediately then became worried again. “Icy? The weapon???”
“I don’t know, ughhh, but, I gotta get ready too.” Icy tried to get back on his feet but fell back into Sara’s arms.
“I’m not afraid Icy… I’d rather die together with you… than see you sacrifice yourself alone…” She started crying as she wrapped her arms around Icy, holding him tightly.
“Sara… Oh?” Icy looked up into the sky.
“Here it comes!” said one of the islanders. Everyone summoned their psychic energy and together sent it up as a giant wave to counter the temporal beam.
“ERROR! ERROR! Critical overload. Temporal inversion lost. Complete failure in five seconds. Four… Three… Two… One…”
“Look!!!” Trinity said pointing into the sky. Everyone stared up at the sky as they witnessed the temporal ship explode in space. “We did it!!!” Everyone started cheering and celebrating. Trinity said again to herself… “We… did it… But… he’s…”
“Trinity…,” Icy spoke weakly.
“What is it with you? Don’t you have any care for Sara at all? Look at yourself, on the verge of death for what, the probably hundredth time! Think about Sara for once in your life Icy, about how sad she’d be to lose someone as close as family… Think about it once… because… it really does hurt…” Trinity turned away so that Icy and Sara wouldn’t see the tear trickle down her cheek as she felt its salty taste come upon her lips.
“Trinity… he’s still alive…” Trinity nodded her head.
“I know… That scares me more though…” Icy looked up at Trinity one last time before collapsing back into Sara arms. And as the camera zooms away from the main characters, a bittersweet fanfare sets the final mood…
However…
“This is how I am thanked? After all I’ve done for you, this is my thanks? You have disappointed me Willis.”
“Leave me alone…” Willis cried. Beside him, Chronos floated calmly.
“Hmm hmm hmmmm… It’s not that simple my dear boy. You and I are not finished yet. That is… unless you wish to lose all of your friends.”
Willis’ eyes widened and looked over to Chronos. “No…”
“That’s right… You are still mine… You cannot escape me, not now, not ever! Mwaaahhahaaa haa haa haa ha haaaah. Bwaahaha aha hhahhaa haaahaa haaa haa haaaa!!!”
Chronos cried in Willis’ arms knowing he was doomed to once again relive that horrible future waiting for them. Knowing once again, he failed to save himself and his friend. Knowing once again, he was still just a pawn…
And so… as the camera pans out from Willis’ virtual world and back into reality, the bittersweet melody continues playing. As the months pass by, Trinity eventually collects the remaining Spectral Island badges and everyone comes out to see her battle for the championship…
“This is it folks!!! Only one pokémon remains for Trinity and her opponent, Frank.”
Frank sneered over at Trinity. “You’ve trained well Trin. It’s gonna be an honor to finally have the pleasure of beating you.”
“Put a sock in it already Frank. You haven’t seen anything yet.” Trinity took her last pokéball and expanded it. “Nyuura, GO!!!” Trinity’s ice cat, Nyuura, appeared on the field.
“Crap. Ok Trinity, I’m finally gonna beat you! Go Kireihana!”
“Nyuura, go.” Nyuura sprinted across the field with her claws ready to strike.
“Kireihana, dodge it!” Kireihana leapt away from each attack as Nyuura took swing after swing at the flower pokémon.
“Nyuura, that’s good, now fight for real.” Nyuura purposely skipped half a beat causing Kireihana to jump from anticipation.
“Oh no!” Frank looked on, hoping his critical error would not cost him the match. He felt his heart beat slowly. “Sunny day!!!” Kireihana floated backwards in the air as Nyuura made her attack. She was defenseless this time but followed her trainer’s command.
Nyuura was temporarily blinded by the intensive sunlight and missed on her attack. “What a dirty trick. Agility now!” Nyuura dashed towards Kireihana once again, faster now.
“Ha ha, I told you this was it. Solarbeam!!!” Because of the intensive sunlight, Kireihana was able to charge her solarbeam in only a second’s time. “FIRE!” Kireihana sent a super charged solarbeam hurtling across the field, ripping the ground apart as it raced towards the charging Nyuura.
‘Nyuura… I believe in you and your abilities. You can win this, just follow your instincts and they will lead you to victory,’ Trinity thought to herself. Somehow, in the split second before the solarbeam was upon her, Nyuura heard her trainer’s words. She narrowed her eyes and immediately started doing backflips, staying only centimeters ahead of the beam. Her movements were so fast, everyone just stood there silently, waiting for the end result.
Trinity jumped out of the way when she realized what Nyuura was going to do and the solarbeam smashed into the wall and exploded. Kireihana panted for a few seconds but when she looked up, her eyes were filled with fear. “Nyuuuuuuuuuuu!!!” Nyuura yelled lunging down from the sky at Kireihana. She rushed past the flower pedal pokémon, her claws connecting twice, then meditated behind her.
Kireihana stood motionless. The judges watched, waiting for one pokémon to make a move. Frank and Trinity stared at the field, wondering what was next. Then, finally, Kireihana fell to her side and the judge declared Trinity to winner of the match, and as the Spectral League Champion.
The crowds burst into cheering and celebration. “Trinity has done it!!! She’s done it!!! Trinity has defeated Frank in the final round to become the Spectral League Champion!!!” The TV’s displayed the slow motion clip of Nyuura’s awesome counter attack to Kireihana’s solarbeam. Even Trinity stood in amazement when she saw just how graceful Nyuura was.
Icy and Sara were both cheering too. “Yay!!! Yay!!! Trinity!!!” They joined the thousands of fans in their applause.
“Sis…,” said a small boy from somewhere else in the crowds. He looked down at the field at his older sister. In his arms, a little winged pokémon stared up at him, and back down to the girl. A small smile came across his face, even as small tears rolled down his cheek. And with that, he and the pokémon vanished, just as Trinity’s eyes met his former location.
“…Willis…” Trinity looked out across the crowds, and into the sky. And as the judges award her the Spectral League Championship Medal, the camera backs away from the Prism Island Stadium, and into the clouds, with the bittersweet, triumphant music fading into the background.

{Song: “Just a Dream”}
Once… in a dream… we were happy and fine…
There… was a time… when the sun would always shine…
Now… as I look… over the starry sky…
I see that it all is just a dream…
Why… do… you seek… for an answer…
Why… does… your heart want to know…
If we can’t move… on… and our hearts… go… astray,
Will there be someone wait…ing…
To put us back… on… our… way…?
Now as I look up in to the staaaarry sky!
I can see that love is all the answer to the question, why.
Now as I look back, to the days we shared with smiles,
I see… that it all… is just… a… dreeeeeeeeeeam…
I see… that it all… is… just…
a…
dream…………
