The Dark Destiny

Episode 112

Last time…
Our heroes arrived on the Red Island where Trinity and Icy did battle with the gym leader, Kate. While Trinity was able to use Suihou to defeat the fiery trainer, Icy didn’t have as good of luck though. And to make matters worse, Gamma attacked the city by erupting the volcano on Mt. Magby. Now, with most of the city destroyed, our heroes once again set forth for their next adventure. And this is where our story continues…

«« INTRO »»
As the clouds part, the camera flies over a vast green landscape, lined with numerous flowers and small trees and pokémon running around. Finally, the camera zooms past Icy, Sara, and Trinity as it soars into the sky.
Scenes change as we see each of the Spectral League gym leaders in dramatic poses with their pokémon and their respective island in the background. As we reach the final leader, the world begins to change into lines and becomes the Virtual Plane.
A slightly more foreboding music plays as shadows of a small winged pokémon, a duck-shaped red-bluish pokémon, a young boy, and an older man with a staff pass by. A tear drops from the boy’s face as he drops a small locket, causing the scene to switch again.
The ripples of the tear drops fade into a scene of Icy and his friends having a picnic and a few shots of battles with other trainers and a short spar with Gamma and Eamudo. Finally, the camera zooms out to show a large portion of the world, but with an ominous figure looming behind it.
«« END INTRO »»

“Hey Icy,” Sara said nudging Icy. “Are you alright?” Icy’s wounds were still hurting him pretty bad, and the waves weren’t helping.
Icy looked out one last time at the great volcano, and the city in ruins. “This is my fault… isn’t it?”
  “Huh?” Sara said.
“Gamma only did this because of me. Maybe… I shoulda just given them Frosterpie; less people would be needlessly killed that way.”
“Don’t say that. He’d have killed them anyways I bet. He’s just mean.” Sara pouted.
“You’re being a baby about this you know.” Trinity stood up. “Gamma and this Dark Lord guy, they obviously mean business. You better figure out what they really want, or stop them before it’s too late.” Trinity sat back down. She had already said too much. In her mind, she cursed herself for speaking so cruelly about him. Afterall… he was…
“I know what he wants… Frosterpie… but why?”
“Oh, Icy, what about the Mew Ship?”
“That might be it. Frosterpie and I were the only means to prevent that weapon from destroying the entire world.”
  “Hey, don’t forget me.”
“Yes yes, sorry Sara. But… maybe, The Dark Lord plans to use Frosterpie to power the weapon again.”
Trinity was listening in but not understanding a single word. “What are you talking about, Mew Weapon?”
“You never heard about that event?” Sara asked.
“Trinity, what do you about the Gi Desert?” Icy asked Trinity.
“The Gi Desert? I’ve never heard of it.”
“Well… It musta been about a year ago right?” Sara nodded. “Me and Sara received a letter from Professor Oak about a legendary pokémon, Frosterpie. But, Team Rocket, a no good pokémon stealing gang in Kanto was also after the Frosterpie. So, we set out along with a few friends to search for Frosterpie and eventually, ended up in a place known as the Gi Desert.”
“Oooookay. I do recall hearing about some Pikachu kid on an epic quest, but c’mon, since when do you see that.”
“Umm, yea, well that was me. Me and Sara were pikachus back then. That’s a long story. But anyways, when we got to the Gi Desert, we met up with Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket. When we finally located Frosterpie inside the Temple of Ice, this spaceship controlled by Mews fired a temporal weapon at the temple.”
  “Temporal weapon?”
“A weapon to alter time and space. Their plan was to erase all of the life on the planet and repopulate the world with Mews.”
“What?!? Ok, now you’re getting into science fiction.”
“It’s true. But… whether you believe us or not, that weapon is back somehow, and if The Dark Lord really does control it, we are all in serious trouble.”
The intercom suddenly spoke up. “This be yer capt’n speak’n, arr… Ye landlov’rs should be git’n yer belong’ns together now, arrr…”
  “Ok, this whole episode is messed up now,” Trinity said sighing while Icy and Sara had a reserved smile on their faces. ^_^;
At last, the boat arrived at the next island, Blue Island. “Ok then, let’s hit the pokécenter and prepare for battle!” Trinity stopped. “Oh sorry… Well, anyways, maybe you could have some time together in the city. Blue Island is covered in ice.”
“Haha, very funny. Why did my parents give me such a weird name anyways?”
“Ahh, it’s not weird Icy; I think it’s cute,” Sara said giggling and hugging Icy.
“Ughh, you two gotta stop doing that in public. I’m outta here.”
Sara cheerfully waved goodbye to Trinity and Icy and Sara took a stroll through the city.

Meanwhile, Gamma flew on Eamudo’s back. “Hmm hmm hmm… You cannot escape us this time.” His cell phone beeped annoyingly at him. “Damn, of all the times…” He answered it. “Hello.”
“The weapon is ready. Lure Icy into your trap, and wait for further instructions. As you requested, I’ve sent my finest agents into the city already. Just give them the signal and it’ll all go according to plan.”
“So we work together on this one. Fine. By the way, that other girl isn’t with them this time.”
On the other side of the line, a caped figure listened. Beside him, a smaller figure with a winged pokémon stood waiting. “What does he say?”
“The other girl isn’t with them this time. Perhaps that will calm your nerves a little?”
  “Why…? Why isn’t she there?”
The taller man continued speaking on the phone. “Very well. Proceed with the plan.” He clicked the END button on the phone and turned to the smaller figure.
  “She knows…”
“How can you be certain of that?”
“I don’t know! You saw how she looked at me. She could see right through us.”
“If she’s so much of a threat, why not just eliminate her?”
“WHAT!!! You stupid fool! How would that help me??? Instead of restore two lives, I’d have three to bring back. No… Only Icy stands in my way, and he must be eliminated.”
“Are you really fighting for them still, or has the power Frosterpie holds consumed your mind?”
“Watch your tone. You work for me now, and you had better remember that.”
“Of course your grace. I understand fully…” The taller figure vanished.
The little boy looked down at the colorless, shapeless ground. “Why is it… you are the only one who understands me?” He turned, speaking to the little winged pokémon. “You’re the only friend I have left… but…” He looked down at his hand holding a spherical object. “But… you’ll never truly be my friend, as long as I have this… right?”
The winged pokémon shook its head. Inside, it struggled every second, fighting the power of the Darkball, retaining its thoughts and will. But it was a useless struggle, for in the end, the ball’s power would eventually control it fully. The pokémon had decided it was better to live freely for as long as possible. It glowed slightly as a beautiful lush landscape developed around them.
“This place again? Why do you always make this for me?”
  “Wi…” it spoke.
“Huh, you’re weak; please don’t speak too much ok.”
  “N…no… Th…this is m…my place…”
  “This… this forest? But…”
“This is me…” it uttered before shutting its eyes again. Little by little, the serene forest pixilated and vanished. The boy held the small pokémon to his chest close.
“One day, we can both see that place for real. I promise you.”

“C’mon, cheer up or I’ll shock you,” Sara teased Icy. As pikachus, Sara could always spark things up with a good thunderbolt, but even now, not even that could cheer Icy.
“Ok… ok… It’s fine really… Besides, with all the other recent things happening, this might be for the better. We need to stay alert otherwise Gamma may get the upper hand on us.”
“Well… I don’t see why we can’t look around the city or go shopping or stuff?”
  “Shopping? With what money?”
“Caterpie Express of course! Don’t leave home without it, teehee,” Sara giggled holding the plastic card in the air where it glimmered in the sun.
“Sara… just whose name is on that card?”
“Oh, it’s both ours remember. Don’t worry, you got a high limit, I won’t use it all up today, we still have till tomorrow before another ferry comes!”
“Agghhhh, whaa!” Icy yelped as Sara dragged him into the nearest store.

From a distance, Gamma looked on with the cloaked man behind him. “This makes me wanna puke.”
“Never experienced true love before my friend?”
  “Shut up, like you have.”
“There was once someone I held dear… That was before the war broke out.”
“Damnit. You’re one messed up guy you know. Listen, I don’t really care about love and mushy crap. Is the weapon in position?”
“We can’t get it over the island before they’d leave, so I planned for it to be over the Purple Island instead. They will be headed there next.”
“Purple Island… Data Island is right between these two.”
“We don’t foresee that posing a risk. As long as the weapon is in place, we can just sit back and wait.”
“I’m taking them out today. The agents are all in position.”
“Fine then. Just don’t get caught. I’d hate to have the press blame this on you.”
“Whatever. This time, I’m gonna kill that pest. Mwahahhahaha.”

The electronic door whizzed open as Sara emerged holding Icy’s hand like a guide. “A little to the right, there, ok.”
Icy’s arms were packed nearly two feet high with boxes. “Sara!?! Where are you gonna put all these???”
“Huh? Gee… uh, I never thought about that. Teehee, hmm, well maybe I can take some back. C’mon!”
“Oh no, not again!” Icy cried as she dragged him back into the store.

“Ok, time to go.” The red-bluish pokémon appeared beside the little boy. “We’ll take out the power in the city so that while the people are in panic, Gamma can go ahead with his plan. Alright, to the main power grid.” The small winged pokémon looked on as they sped away.
“Why… You… can’t see, but you aren’t really blind…” Clouds appeared around the little pokémon, and a large skyscraper sliced through the peaks. “No… nooo…” The pokémon held its head hard as the scene continued to develop. “Stop stop it please!!! This isn’t me, I don’t wanna go there. Please leave me alone!!!” The building became more and more detailed. Through the glass of a window, the shadow of the young boy was visible, with a much larger shadow next to it. “Who?”
“Heh, thanks a bunch kid. You know, this’ll make us famous one day. I may even attract the attention of that person you’re looking for.”
“No, no don’t listen, it’s…” the pokémon said to no one.
The scene flashed past. “What do you mean, we had a deal!” the boy yelled. His figure fell to the floor as two larger ones started dragging it away. “Help me!!! Chronos, where are you???”
“Nooooo! Not again. Why?” The little pokémon flew closer. Its eyes grew red. “That’s not me; I’ll save him and change it all. You’ll see, you’ll see!!!”
From inside the building, a tall man in shades watched computer screens arranged in a sphere pattern. “Warning, warning. Intruder alert.” The man got up as Chronos blew apart the office.
“Not me!!!!!” Chronos yelled as it let loose a massive energy wave. Instantly, the office exploded into flames and the building began to buckle. “I won’t… let… it happen to us again… I’ll fight you this time… I’m not weak… I wanna be his friend…” Chronos watched as the glass windows of the building shattered simultaneously. Shards flew in all directions, one driving itself deep into Chronos’ left arm. “UGH!”
A deep voice spoke in low, ghostly tones, “You think that you can escape me… It was your destiny to bring this. Face your true self, and embrace the destiny I have chosen for you!” Chronos’ eyes moistened as he nursed his wounded arm. The building exploded into a several hundred foot tall tower of fire. “You are mine still, and you will always be. You cannot escape the chaos that awaits. Bring me Frosterpie, or face this fate again.”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,” Chronos screamed as he opened his eyes. He grabbed his arm and realized it was fine. “I… I must obey… If it means I’ll still be with him… I’ll do whatever you want… I’ll help get Frosterpie…”

“This is it… Time to get Frosterpie finally!” The boy’s figure began to pixilize and rearrange itself. “Ahhhahaha, much better. This is much more like it.” The Dark Lord had reappeared and the porygon he was riding quickly destroyed the security bots for the power grid.
“Uh, sir, I’ve got a code red alarm. Someone’s hacking into the city power grid.”
“This isn’t good. We barely have enough power as it is due to the incident on Yellow Island. Try to run an antivirus program on it.”
“Yes sir. Running program now.” A progress meter appeared on the screen. After a few seconds, the meter froze.
  “Well?”
“Umm, the system is still failing. I don’t think I can hold it up much longer.” With that, all the monitors in the control room went dead.
“Switch to pikachu backup power.” Pikachus began charging the generators to provide some power, but not much.
A dark, deep voice began speaking. “It is useless to fight back. The Dark Lord will not rest until he has what he seeks. Those who oppose me, shall die.” With that, the lights began dimming again.
“Crap, power levels are dropping. Huh, what’s that rumbling sound?” Outside, a white cloud appeared to be falling down the mountain at quite a high velocity. “Oh no, avalanche!!!”

[[Scene Swap]]

Little by little, the power over the island failed and the snow was really picking up speed coming down the mountain. “What are we gonna do?”
“Duck and cover?” said an unimportant bystander.
“You idiot, we’ll all be killed. We must find shelter somehow. Quick, into the basement.” An older man led his family downstairs as if a tornado was coming. He had obviously prepared for this kind of situation. Even without power, he had stored emergency flashlights, rations, and heaters. Other families were not so lucky. Icy and Sara scrambled to make it to the pokécenter where they found Trinity waiting.
She hadn’t even had time to sport her shiny Blue Sapphire Badge when the snow rushed past the reinforced walls of the pokécenter.
“Please do not panic anyone. This building is safe from avalanche conditions. We will be alright.” Only a few families had managed to get to the pokécenter in time. Many others… were less fortunate.
“AAAAAhhhhahahha, now this is fun. A real winter wonderland eh?”
“You call this, fun?” The cloaked man raised an eyebrow at Gamma.
“Sure. What could be more fitting to cold-blooded murder than using ice cold snow. Don’t you have a sense of humor at all?”
“Not in this case. Whatever. I suppose it’s now my turn to get Frosterpie.”
“You’re gonna end this now aren’t you?” Gamma asked.
“I have… my own plans for Icy.”
  “You’re idea of fun?”
“Yes… my idea of fun…” The cloaked man drew his cape and vanished.
Gamma frowned. “You only think it’s fun cause you don’t have to worry about job security.” He turned to Eamudo. “We get by fine anyways. He doesn’t need us here for his little game I suppose. I want to watch the weapon anyways. Let’s go!” Gamma jumped onto Eamudo and they took off, flying over the ocean towards Purple Island.
The cloaked man reappeared floating above the rushing snow. “Now for the fun part…” He cupped his hands which began glowing red. “Fire magic…” Suddenly, a sphere of fire appeared around him. “Flame Shield.” He floated down towards the pokécenter, cutting through the snow with his shield of fire.
“Icy, outside, look!” Sara said pointing at the approaching fireball.
“Are we under attack?” someone unimportant cried out.
The fireball stopped just outside the door but the cloaked man vanished. All of the sudden, the pokécenter went dark.
“Crap… Sara, stay close.” Icy gripped her hand tight.
“Oww, that hurts. What’s the matter?” Her eyes scanned the darkness.
“There,” Icy said pointing toward a small light.
“We meet… again… I…c…y……” said the figure in a deep voice.
From a distance, the cloaked man watched, seeming ready to do his part when queued. “Perhaps, he will end it today.”
“The Dark Lord!?!” Icy said in shock. He grabbed Cyber’s pokéball and got ready to use it.
“So predictable. I warned you already Icy. I just want Frosterpie. I’m taking it now.”
“I could never give Frosterpie to a madman like you. Especially not after you revived the Mew Temporal Weapon.”
The Dark Lord froze for a moment. ‘How…? How could he know that?’ “That’s not important. If you do not give me Frosterpie, I will use the weapon again. Do you want that on your head Icy? Innocent people will die because of you. Mwaaahahaha!”
  “You’re WRONG!!!”
“Huh?!?” The Dark Lord stepped back. ‘Why? Why am I surprised by him? I can’t stay focused when I listen to his words…’
“You are hurting those people yourself, not me. I’m not the one responsible for the destruction you cause. And Frosterpie won’t bring you any help.”
“What? No… That’s… that’s not right… that can’t be it… This is all your fault. I need Frosterpie; the reason is none of your concern.”
“Look at yourself. You aren’t yourself. You are blind.”
“NOOO!!!” The Dark Lord gripped his head. “NOOOOOOO!!!!!!”
An ominous voice echoed in his brain. “AAaaahhahaha. Even he can see it in you. You are blind to everything around you, blind to what you seek. But, you are still mine. You still owe me, or else you will never see them again. Is that what you want?”
“NOOOOO!!! I will bring them back!!! I’m not blind, I can see just perfect! You… you!!! You are the one who is blind Icy. You don’t realize what you are getting yourself into. Give me what I want!!! I’ll destroy you and everyone you hold dear if you don’t.”
“Enough! Ready to fight, come in sight! Icy calls, CYBER!!! Porygon Knight, transformation!” Cyber emerged and went into a cool 3D CG sequence, merging with Icy. “I can’t allow you to blindly kill more people. I’ll end this right here.”
“Hmmhmmhmm. Icy… You think you can stop this. How? Would you kill me?”
  Icy paused.
“I won’t give you the chance!!!!!” The Dark Lord drew his sword and charged.
“Huh!?!” Icy’s attention snapped in too late. “AAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!” He screamed out in horror as the blade drove straight through him.
“ICY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Sara cried watching the sword drive through her friend. “NOOOOO!!!!!”

«« ENDING »»
Light harp-like music plays showing each of the main characters with their pokémon asleep. Finally, we see just an outline of a young boy, asleep with a winged pokémon and a strange pokémon beside them.
