Icy’s New Quest
After Icy and Sara had finally returned to their home in the Viridian Forest, a strange force teleported Icy to a different area. Next, after a tough battle, the stranger allowed Icy to return to Sara and the gym. Things can’t get any stranger than this, can they?
The phone rang. Icy and Sara were busy training in the main gym hall. The way they figured, since they technically were pokémon, they might as well stay in shape, Icy especially. He didn’t want to be caught off guard should that mysterious figure teleport him back again. Again, the phone rang.
Icy’s right eye twitched hearing the noise. “I think I hear the phone ringing.”
Sara roll up behind him and made her move. Catching him completely off guard, she easily smashed Icy to the ground. “Gotcha!”
“Owww…” Icy shook his head as he got up. “I think my head is ringing.”
“I think it’s the phone.” Sara ran up and picked up the phone. “Hello?”
“Hello, is this the Viridian Forest Gym?” the voice asked.
“Umm, yes it is. Who’s calling?”
“This is Professor Oak. Is Icy there by any chance?”
“He’s still a little dizzy on the floor right now.”
“Huh? Why’s that?”
“I think I knocked him down a little too hard…,” Sara said giggling.
“Oh. Well, maybe you could direct him over to the phone please?”
“Sure.” Sara put the phone down on the table and went back to Icy. “Uhh, sorry for knocked you down so hard, but Professor Oak is on the phone and wants to speak with you.”
Icy shook his head once more and finally came to. “Oh. It’s ok Sara. I’ll talk to him.” He went into the other room and picked up the phone. “Hello, this is Icy.”
“Ah, Icy. It’s good to hear your voice. I was worried you and Sara didn’t make it.”
“No, we are fine professor.”
“Loki told me everything about the Ice Palace. It’ll be a great addition to my studies.”
“Professor, you can’t. I’m not allowed to say why, but you just can’t do a study on it. Let’s just say a little Pidgey told me not to let anyone else know of the place. Sorry.”
“Ok. I understand.”
“You said Loki is there? Then that must mean?”
“Yes. Your friends made it out just fine. Although, they’ve been worried sick over you. Lewis especially. The poor boy. He’s a fine friend, you should be very happy.”
“Is he?”
“Oh, no no no. He’s not dead. I’m sorry, I must have sounded like he was. No, he got everyone back here safely. He said it was a very dangerous journey home. He was almost in tears because he thought for sure that you were dead.”
“Where is Lewis and the others now?”
“That I don’t know. Oh wait. I do know where Kelly went.”
“Kelly? Oh ya, the girl with the two Eevees.”
“Yes. She’s traveling to a chain of islands in the west called, The Spectral Islands.”
“The Spectral Islands? I’ve never heard of them. Is it a resort or something?”
“Well, it’s true many tourist do go there.”
“I never got to go on any vacations there…”
“Only rich families can really afford vacations there. It’s really classy. You wouldn’t have liked it. At least you went to that Pokemon Resort in Seafoam.”
“Yah, that place sure was cool right Sara? The Pokemon Resort in Seafoam?”
“Oh, yeah! I loved that place.” She gave Icy a big Pikachu hug. “That’s so much for taking me. Are we going back there again?”
“Umm, not exactly. Professor Oak was just telling me about The Spectral Islands and that Kelly is on her way there.”
“Kelly. I remember her. She’s such a nice little girl. Are we going there too?”
“Icy, if I might intrude.”
“Go ahead professor.”
“That’s not the main reason she went there. I did a little research on the islands recently and discovered they just started a brand new pokémon league called the Spectral League.”
“Cool. So you mean there’s a new league to compete in?”
“Yes. Kelly said since they were starting a new league, they’d need to have breeders there too. She’s quite a skillful and smart young lady.”
“Yes, we know.”
“Anyways, I have heard that in these islands are some new species of pokémon I haven’t even seen. Well, I asked her this same question I’m going to ask you.”
[Flashback]
Kelly stood quietly while the professor searched through some boxes.
“Ah, here it is. Kelly, have you heard of the Spectral Islands?”
“Umm, no professor,” she said in a light voice. Her Eevees stood by her sides.
“Well, I’ve recently heard they are starting a new league there. That could mean a chance for you to get some experience as a breeder working in the new gyms.”
Kelly nodded.
“There’s another reason I called you over.” She looked at the device in Oak’s hands. “Kelly, this is the latest pokédex. Unlike the models I used to give out, this new pokédex contains much more detailed information on the more common pokémon. It also includes brand new research features to collect data on new pokémon.”
“Ok.”
“Hmm, I’ll get to the point. I heard that some new species have been found living only in the Spectral Islands. I’m much too old to go out there and research them myself, but your young spirit is really one-of-a-kind. Is there any chance I can convince you to go to the Spectral Islands for me and record data on these new pokémon?”
“It sounds like a pretty big job, but I think I can do it.”
“Oh, you can take a friend along with you if you’d like.”
Nicky ran in. “I’ll go with her professor!” Nicky stood still in the doorway, eyes fixed on Kelly. She turned around and looked at him. She still didn’t totally understand why Nicky would always do that, but she did think it was cute of him.
“Are you sure Nicky?”
“Yes professor. I’ve already battled and defeated the gyms in the Indigo League. I’d say it’s time to move on to a new league with new battles. Kelly, may I come with you?”
“Uhh… sure, yeah.”
“Thank you Kelly.” Nicky smiled.
“Here Kelly. You’ll need this. Do you want any more pokémon to take with you?”
“No thanks professor. I’ll be fine with my Eevees and Nicky,” she replied taking the pokédex from Oak. “When do we leave?”
“Well, I still need to make the arrangements, but I think I can get you on your way by late next week. Is that too early?”
“No. That is fine.” Kelly turned back to Nicky. “Isn’t this so cool. We get to go look at new pokémon!” Nicky smiled and watched as Kelly expressed her happiness.
[End Flashback]

“So Nicky and Kelly are both in The Spectral Islands?”
“Yes. Nicky went along with her. He acts kinda strange whenever he’s around her I’ve seen.”
Icy sweatdropped. “Yeah, well uh, ehhehheh…”
“Anyways, do you think you’d be interested in helping out with my research too?”
“I have to ask Sara first.” Icy turned to Sara. “Oak wants to know if we’d like to go to the Spectral Islands and help research some new species of pokémon for him.”
“Sure, let’s go!!!” Sara ran off and began packing.
“She says yes. And… I think the earlier the better, hehehe…”
“What to bring, what to bring?” Sara sang as she collected things to take.
“Well, I’m afraid I can’t get anything for you until next week. It’s pretty heavy traffic right now with the tourists, and they have special laws on personal flying pokémon transports because of all the jets and Pidgeots.”
“Ok.”
“Great. Please come over later this week and I will give you the tickets and a new pokédex to use. Catch, err, see ya later Icy.”
“Ehheh, bye professor.” Icy hung up the phone.
“So, when do we leave,” Sara said dressed in a snorkeling outfit.
Icy giggled seeing Sara dressed up so funny. “Well, Oak says we can’t leave for about a week.”
Sara pouted. “Awww… I wanna go now…” She looked at the ground unhappily.
Icy ran over to her and hugged her. “Don’t be sad. One week isn’t that long. Besides, we are getting to spend a really long time down there.” She looked up to him with big, shiny eyes.
“Ok…,” she said softly. “Thank you for taking me Icy.” She got up and kissed Icy.
Icy rubbed his cheeks as he blushed. “Well, shall we get back to training?”
“I think I better change out of this swimming outfit first.” She smiled and pranced back into her room.”
Meanwhile,
“This could complicate things. That island chain is the perfect spot to begin our plan. If that kid is there, he could create a problem for us.”
“Perhaps, I can find a way to ensure Icy will be a willing supporter of us.”
“I’m listening.”
On the Spectral Islands,
Trinity walked down the street alone. She never really hung out with any boys because to her, many of them were quite rude and only wanted to battle. And besides, any boy who did manage to get close to her found her fist in their faces before they could even try to challenge her.
As she walked, some local people watched. Many of them had seen the match she won against Greg earlier. “There’s that new trainer. I heard she’s really good.”
Trinity rolled her eyes. Praise was fun, but after you’ve heard people talk endlessly about you, had news reports covering your life non-stop, it got old, very quick. And so, she just walked down the road, alone.
As she turned the corner, she saw a small, sphere-like shadow duck away. “Hey, who’s there?” She received to reply. “Hmm, I know you are there. If you’re some boy who wants to challenge me, you better show yourself.” Still, nothing happened. “Could I have just been seeing things? She shrugged and continued walking down the road. From behind the bushes, the shadow watched her move farther and farther away. It sighed softly and continued following a safe distance away and out of sight.
Elsewhere,
Kelly took another bite out of the sandwich she got at the pokécenter. “Mmm, thanks Nicky. This is yummy.” She smiled as she munched on it.
“I’m glad you like it Kelly.” Nicky smiled watching her eat.
Kelly’s Eevees, Mars and Venus, both had little bits of pokefood to eat and enjoyed it just as much. Kelly giggled as they ate.
“Nicky.”
“Yes Kelly?”
“Do you think Icy and Sara made it out?”
“I hope so Kelly. But if they didn’t, I bet they are in a very special place right now. But I think they did make it. Icy’s not the type to just die.”
“I hope they are alive too.” She paused then giggled to herself a moment. “Hehehe… Wouldn’t it be so cool if they were headed here right now?”
“Yeah. C’mon, I think there’s a pokémon gym up this road. You can see if the leader there would like you to help him out.”
“Alright!”
